After last years very successful ExPlayers & Friends Day
Can you believe it, here we are again, at the start of yet another new season.
Last season saw our First Team WIN the Cheshire Cup beating Wirral RUFC in an exciting Final at Chester Rugby Club. In addition, no less than 8 lads played for Cheshire at Twickenham to win the Bill Beaumont County Championship Div 2 against Devon. Two fantastic days for the Club and bloody exceptional for our lads to play & win at “Twickers HQ”. Well done to the whole squad for winning the Cheshire Cup & remember the day you 8 played & won at Twickers – bloody awesome. Very proud President !!
So, after the last two years very successful “ExPlayers & Friends Day” – here we go again. This will be an annual event, well as long as I am Club President anyway ! The aim is to have it either the first or second home game of the season, for the First team home fixture.

So, to Kick Off Season 2025/26 in style, Saturday 13th September against Rochdale RUFC will be the day! The weather should be good, the BBQ will be fired up, the ale will be flowing, friends old & new will be making memories for life at the PORT BAR
We had almost 140 Ex Player & friends turn out last year, from as far afield as USA & France – wow that’s some claim to fame & also shows how much Stockport RUFC – or the original D’PORT RUFC, means to people.
Rugby, the world over, makes friends for life !!

All are invited, old players, ex players – not so old, family, friends, wives, partners, brothers, sisters, parents of ex players but also current players & we want all the Club to get involved.
Mini & Juniors, players, parents – you are all welcome. It’s a CLUB DAY !
This is a great way to start a new season.
Last season, the whole Club was a great success, but this year we want all teams (ages & sexes) to aim higher this season. Yes its hard work, but that’s often what defines teams & characters. So lets start 25-26 off with a great bash.
Thanks to all who supported last years event. We hope to see you all at Headlands Road again this year.
Saturday 13th September a great day out with friends at Stockport RUFC - for £25pp
Our 150 seater stand sited on the half way line providing a great viewing point for all matches on the 1st Team Pitch. Brilliant !!

This years event will feature on our 1st Team V Rochdale RUFC, on Saturday 13th September 2025. 3pm KO.
• 12.00-12.30 Meet & Greet.
• Drinks & natter
• Pre-match cold buffet including sandwiches, nibbles, cheese & biscuits.
• Maybe the odd beer or two, or maybe more.
• See old faces, maybe even some new ones.
• Anyone who has ever played for Stockport/Davenport RUFC is welcome.
• 3pm 1st Team Match KO
• 5-6pm BBQ
• Raffles & prizes to be won – British Lions Signed shirt !!, plus lots of other prizes - £100 Bar Tab. Case of Wine. Various bottles of wine & spirits
• Club Ties for sale on the day only £15 on this Special Day

£25 pp “EX PLAYERS DAY & FRIENDS OF PORT” Which includes the following:-
• Glass of FIZZ upon arrival
• Pre match cold buffet including sandwiches, quiche, nibbles, cheese & biscuits, and of course sausage rolls
• Entrance ticket for the match. Normally £8.
• Match Day program.
• Seat in Stand to watch the match. First come first served ! 150 seats.
• Voucher for post match BBQ – Burger or sausages.
• FOC – The craic !!! Friendships & memories !!
We are expecting large numbers, so you must pre-book & pre-pay.
Come on down, have a laugh, enjoy the craic & rugby, at your rugby club.
