Port through to final after beating gritty Chester 2s but thoughts now turn to Burton

In an idiosyncratic competition Stockport progressed into the final of this seasons Cheshire Cup when they overcame a determined Chester 2nd XV at Headlands Road.
This season Chester 2s & Caldy 2s both entered the competition, with Chester 2s currently sitting 4th in the premier division one place behind Port 2nd XV it was always going to be a tough ask for them to take on a full strength Stockport first XV but after a week of horse trading Tom Eaton selected a hybrid First/second XV to face a resolute Chester side with Port running out 42-14 winners before a large Easter crowd that saw queues 20 yards long at the Port as the turnout from the Stockport supporters surprised all.

Port will now face Caldy 2nd XV in the final on a date yet to be confirmed once any play off games are concluded.

All thoughts now turn to Saturday 11th April when third placed Burton travel to Headlands Road where the winner will face either Anselmians or Huddersfield in the first playoff round and the loser will end their league season.

This will be the biggest game of the season for Port and the boys will need all the support they can get. KO 3.00PM
