Stockport first team finished the 2025/26 campaign with a solid win over a committed Burton side to finish third in the regular season, their highest placed finish for many a year. Whatever happens now it’s been a great season for the ones albeit an injury hit one as despite taking the win we lost the talismanic Simon Green with a dislocated shoulder.
First half scores for Morgan Mohring and Rory Atwill gave Stockport a solid start before the visitors reduced the deficit before half with a try themselves. The game was secured in the second half with tries for Zach Stephen’s and Dom Sheratte. The win ensured Port would now finish third securing a visit to Anselmians on Saturday 25th April with the winner of that game meeting the winner of the Nat 2 relegation playoff. Final score 28-14.
The 2s came out on the wrong side of a highly entertaining game at local rivals Macclesfield losing 48-41 in a 15 try extravaganza however the 3s and 4s both managed wins with the 3s winning in style 12-51 at Northwich and the mighty 4s won 69-21 at home against Littleborough to cap a very good day at Stockport where we fielded no less than 80 players across 4 senior sides.
Thanks also to everyone who turned up to support the lads and producing one of the largest bar takes in recent years.
