
Stockport first XV came away from Long Eaton with a maximum 5 points in a game played in very difficult conditions.
The game kicked off with Port playing into a strong wind on a firm ground. Tries from Rory Atwill and Morgan Mohring to see Port go into half with a 7-10 lead.
With teh wind now at their backs Port scored an early try through centre Rory Austin with Zach Stephens converting.
The bonuis point was achieved after good work from the pack saw Matt Lawrowitsch force his way over with Stephens again adding the extras.
The home side then reduced the arrears with a try outwide before scrum half Llwellwyn Jones was the beneficiary of a great Tom Hughes tackle forcing the ball carrier to spill the ball that was picked up by Rory Atwill who fed Jones who managed a full arm in the air celebration when he ran the ball in from less than 6 feet. He paid his penance later with a deserved DOTD award.
Port stay fourth in the table and with Burton seeing off Wirral in their game the win now sets up what is basically a cup final against Burton at Headlands Road on Saturday 11th April.
The 3's waited till the last play of the game in their home game v Lymm 3's to take maximum points in a high scoring game to see them maintain there fourth place in the table.
No games this weekend however the ones will be at home v Chester in this seasons Cheshire Cup on Thursday night at Headlands Rd. KO.7.30pm
