One of the downsides of having a good group of players who continue to develop year on year is getting fixtures that push the boys and aid their development the unfortunate side of this is you have to be prepared to travel.
Today the boys continued on their month of games on the road and whilst the Greens were making hay at Littleborough the Reds had an all together different proposition on their hands against a very good side in Sandal or "flip flop" as Dom Rode christened them.
The game commenced well for the Port boys who started the game on a pitch with a significant slope in their favour and as such rushed in to an early six try lead which clearly shocked their hosts. Once the sides switched ends though it was the hosts turn to benefit from the topography of the pitch and Sandal pulled back almost as many as they conceded. The match now at this stage became a real battle between the sides as no favour was sought or given but it was to be Stockport who emerged victorious in very good game of rugby courtesy of man of the match winger Adam Pennington's seven tries. All in all not a bad days work for Stockport's outside backs who are clearly loving the wide open space of a full sized pitch.
