Todays match was a three-way round-robin with local rivals Manchester and Old Laurentians, a touring side from Rugby consisting of three 30 minute games.

Spitfires first match was against Manchester, a side who have proved difficult to beat in the past. The lads dominated in attack however and ran in 5 tries to win comfortably. After a bad week last week, the lads looked refreshed and more alert playing some attractive wide rugby and recycling the ball well. In contrast to last week also they played well as a team showing some real desire with speed over the ball and shipping well to the backs to run in. Handling was, at times, a little lacklustre but this shouldn't take away from a great team performance and a well deserved win from the lads.

Having beaten Manchester in the opener, Laurentians threatened to be harder opposition, however the lads again showed some real skill in attack camping out in the opponents half for most of the first 15. A wonderful breakthrough try, picking the ball from open ground and weaving through to go over opened the scoring and some real skilful play was shown by the team as a cohesive unit. The forwards worked hard to retain the ball and equally the backs worked in unison to create opportunities, seeing the space and threatening always. In the end, the win was comfortable with 7 unanswered tries.

A good day from the lads, with a hospital visit for one who took a knock to the head- we wish him well and a speedy recovery.
Well played spitfires.

Now, .... if we can do that every week...
