Yet again the boys lined up against the opposition and yet again we faced a bugger team. Parents , you really must do something about feeding the boys some growth hormone stuff !
Anyway, what a great performance. With a little guidance that the place to play our rugby was not in the forwards but out wide, the guys put the plan in to action. What a great return. Slick passing out to Josh and he was off. On the outside, and no-one could keep up. Even the ref struggled to keep up with him. Neatly converted, 7-0.
What was particularly pleasing about this performance was that when we had the ball we looked for space, when they had the ball we were prepared to face up to bigger boys and no-one shirked a tackle.
With the slight breeze in our favour and a slight slope too, we scored more tries through Josh and Brandon. 17-5 at half time.
The second half did see the expected attack to repel, and what great defense throughout.
Second half tries from Josh with a superb effort in the corner and Scott with a fine break through the middle we finished off 29-10 winners.
I hope this was the confidence booster tha the boys and coaches needed. With injuries, sickness, skiing and other comitments meaning we also have Thomas, William, Henry and Patrick to add to the squad, what a great place to be.
Special mentions to Josh of course, to the back row team for great presence throughout and to everyone else too.
Staying on to watch Andrew in the senior colts game at 2pm, they won too. A great day all round.
Thanks Steve for reffing. Thanks to Jo Callan for helping their injured player and thanks to anyone else I should thank but haven't got time to remember.
