On a blustery morning at Headlands Road the expectant crowd were treated to an exciting game of rugby with excellent contributions from both sides. After a rather frantic opening ten minutes Kieran Mckeever received the ball on the left side, was ably supported by Sam Moore who quickly recycled to Jack Oldham. The ball was then moved to the right resulting in Lewis Reeves going through to score, conversion missed 5-0.
Sandbach were proving hard to break down, with their enormous pack giving Stockport plenty to think about. Eventually a hole in the visitors defence was opened up by Jaime Sanchez-Capuchino who danced through to cross the line, conversion by Max Fish 12-0. Half Time.
Sandbach started the second half with renewed vigour. They were able to exert plenty of pressure on the Port line, especially through their big men and the hard running centre. The Port defence held firm and Nick Barratt ran out of defence, kicked ahead and appeared to score a wonderful try - unfortunately the ball was judged to have touched the side line - try disallowed. The home side needn't have worried because they stole the ball at the resultant line out, moved the ball and Connor McColgan was able to release Jaime who ran in to score, conversion missed 17-0.
Stockport's tails were up and Jaime was soon running strongly down the right wing to complete his hat trick, conversion missed 22-0. Soon after Connor made a break and when the ball was recycled from the resultant breakdown the ball went left to end up in Kieron's hands who finished clinically, conversion missed 27-0. Final Score.
There were many good performances on the Stockport side - playing well as a team in both attack and defence. Sandbach were a difficult side to cope with and should be pleased with their contribution to a hard physical game played in a great spirit by both sides.
